Sustainable Garden Network

Description:

Everyone loves green gardens, fresh veggies, and fun potlucks. And thats why it makes great sense to have a network of gardens here in Marin. Those with gardens can rotate to host gardening days and potlucks as often as they would like to, and those with hands and mouths can come get their hands in the earth, learn practical skills, and share in the veggies that are produced! There is a weekly garden harvest exchange happening in the back yard at Sustainable Fairfax (sustainablefairfax.org). Contact Padme below for details, or to join the email list.

The Village Network: Local Economy & Re-localization

Description:

This project creates a healthy Village by creating a vibrant, visionary local economy model. Through a Village Network, community members can connect with an active network of local services, businesses, community projects, and infrastructure. There is an online directory of individuals, with what they provide and what they need.  Local businesses give discounts to network members and distribute the card through their own networks. Members contribute monthly subscription which supports the visionary projects of their choice, which in turn creates local infrastructure. Funds are circulated through local businesses and projects using an innovative local-economy model. Community members, businesses, and project teams all create profiles on a central Village website which also acts as a forum to express needs, list skills and services, connect and collaborate, and view events and project discriptions.

Local Health Network

Description:

This project aims to connect three key aspects of health services to create a local health plan that is low cost, highly effective, and locally based.

The project partners with locally based collectives of Holistic Practitioners to provide a level of service to network members.  Catestrophic Health Coverage, covering major emergencies in the Hospital network, can be obtained through a Group Policy once the group is sizeable.  The project is interested to partner with one or two medical doctors in the area to also provide general MD basic care.  The members of the network can then opt in to this "Local Health Plan" and contribute an additional amount, which goes to cover the overhead of the Holistic collective, a stipend for the plan coordinator, and over time, dues for the Catestrophic insurance coverage and a monthly payment to the local MD partners.  Members of the network then do a lower cost co-pay for each visit to the service providers, which ranges from nominal amounts for Holistic care to significantly discounted prices on MD services as needed.
